McAleer offers a wealth of diverse experience

Editor,

I met Donna McAleer as new cadets at West Point and over four years at the academy I came to appreciate her as one the most determined, honest, intelligent and natural leaders. Little did we appreciate the challenges facing the Class of ‘87 whose motto is, "Our Country, We Strengthen."

Our families settled in Utah, which we proudly call home and raise our children. But that pride, at least for me, is diminishing. Utah, one of the U.S.’s greatest treasures, is becoming ever more monolithic and non-representative of its growing and diverse population. A few have hijacked the Republican Party. It’s not Reagan’s party we proudly served as young Army officers - President Reagan would never drink this Tea!
