Guatemalan gifts

It's 3:30 in the morning, two days after Christmas. Where would you expect most high school teenagers to be at that time of day? Asleep, correct?

That was not the case for myself and 43 of my fellow Clearfield Falcons, along with 12 adult chaperones, as we were all at the Salt Lake City International Airport at that exact time, waiting for our flight to leave for Houston and then on to Guatemala.

Thanksgiving the forgotten holiday

Everywhere you look, anywhere you turn, you can basically count on seeing one thing: Christmas. Why is this a problem? Look at your calendar. It is still November.

O'Scares Time!

The nights are dark and deep come October, and teens everywhere are venturing into the Top of Utah's haunted places for the thrills and chills that only Halloween offers.

Today we present our annual TX. O'Scares awards to six fiendishly fun attractions offering the best and worst in ghoulish entertainment.

Are you scared yet? If not, read on.

Real-life FarmVille a lot of fun

Chickens. Pigs. Cows.

Three words that inspire another word in the minds of many people: farm.

Which high school rivalries are the best?

From Clearfield to Bountiful there are six Region 1 high schools, each with a strong pride and having interweaving rivalries with each other.

I took a Facebook poll among my friends to decide which rivalry is the most exciting, intense and blood-pumping in Davis County. Thirty-one people responded, casting their votes for the top three rivals. Most of them were teenagers of both genders, but there were a couple of adult opinions as well.

Lunchtime hits & misses

School lunch. Those two words can mean either delight or disgust to high school students.

Typically, the infamous school lunch has been made to sound like a horrible thing that nobody loves. However, this is not so, as many students actually enjoy some of the menu items. Nevertheless, even though teens do like some lunch items, they also have some least favorite items.

'Waking Up' from 'Dreaming Out Loud'

It's been two years since the debut album of piano-rock sensation OneRepublic hit the charts, and expectations were high as the group's new album, "Waking Up," was released in November.
