Feeling the wind rush through your hair and adrenaline pumping through your veins is what most longboarders live for. Zipping along at daredevil speeds or simply coasting is the new “in” thing to do.
Longboards are making a comeback. Gone are the days where “hippies” were the only ones that rode. Now, longboards — wider and longer versions of the standard skateboard — are the popular mode of transportation, often used to get to school, a friend’s house or the mall. The appeal is clear: Longboards allow you to reach extreme speeds easily and even uncoordinated people can become pro. But where did this fad begin?
