Check the Bible concerning eternity

Editor,

This business of baptism for the dead, whether for Jews or Mormons, is nothing less than ludicrous. When a person dies, no amount of prayer or baptism will change where that person spends eternity. The Bible is very clear about that. In the story of Lazarus and the rich man, when the rich man died he was in Hell (Luke 16:19-31), end of story. He wasn't in some holding place or middle-earth where someone could be baptized for him and then he got to go to heaven.
