ROY -- With The Shield on the line, the Royals bent, but didn't break.
Trailing by just two points with 45 seconds remaining in the game, Weber High lined up to attempt the game-tying two-point conversion. But when quarterback Brad Boswell took the snap, he was immediately crushed in the backfield by Roy junior Hunter Grimes, sealing the Royals' 14-12 victory at Ernest Durbano Field.
"You know what, that's just one play," said Royals coach Fred Fernandes, who moved to 2-0 in his first season at the helm of his alma mater. "There were a lot of big plays in that game, and Hunter didn't necessarily have his best game, but I'm glad we came up with one there."
