SPOKANE, Wash. -- Elias Harris scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as Gonzaga beat BYU 74-63 on Thursday night in a battle for second place in the West Coast Conference.

Brandon Davies scored 23 points for BYU (23-7, 11-4), which had won five straight games but was doomed by woeful shooting.

Gonzaga (22-5, 12-3) kept alive faint hopes of winning a 12th consecutive league regular-season title. Its 11 straight titles are second in Division I history only to the 13 won by UCLA.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga's streak of 11 consecutive West Coast Conference regular-season titles, the second-longest run in Division I history, is in danger of being snapped.

With only six games left, Gonzaga (18-4, 8-2 WCC) is three games behind No. 16 Saint Mary's heading into Thursday night's showdown between the league's top two teams.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Freshman quarterback Connor Halliday will get his first start today as Washington State faces Utah in its quest to become bowl eligible. Utah needs to win both its remaining games to have a chance to win the Pac-12 South title.

Halliday, who came off the bench to throw for 494 yards and four touchdowns in the Cougars' upset of Arizona State last weekend, will be facing one of the Pac-12's top pass defenses.

TACOMA, Wash. -- The husband of a missing Utah woman is temporarily losing the right to care for his children after officials questioned Wednesday whether he is responsible for his wife's disappearance.

Judge Kathryn Nelson said there is reasonable cause to believe the two boys cannot be safely returned to the home of Josh Powell, so she ordered that the kids will temporarily stay with Susan Powell's parents, Chuck and Judy Cox. Josh Powell will have visitation rights.
