Editor,I've always believed that if you're going to be sexually active, then you need to have the available tools for safe and smart sex. This comes in the form of contraception and information. As far as information goes, every high school in this country, private or public, ought to be required to provide sex education classes to its students. While we shouldn't ever condone or promote sexual activity at a young age, it serves no purpose to deny that it does happen among students and young adults. Because of this reality, they need to know about sexually transmitted diseases, forms of contraception, the advantages of abstinence, and so on. Allow these teenagers to have all of the information and, once they have that, to make the decision for themselves.
