What happened to commercial limits?

Q: What ever happened to the FCC ruling that restricted the number of minutes allowed on TV shows for commercials? Also, many news programs now put in feature stories about programs running later on the same channel. Isn't that considered advertising also?

Disney and Dali, 'GCB' explained

Q: A few years ago on a cruise, I saw a film short done maybe in the 1940s or early 1950s as a collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali. It was animated. The name of it is "Destino." At the time, information said it would soon be released for sale. I would love to have it but, so far, I know it has been delayed and I don't see it for sale anywhere. Do you know if and when it will be for sale? I would also like to know who sang the song that is this short film's soundtrack.

Pauley Perrette and Cote de Pablo

'NCIS' romances, game show queried

Q: My wife and I and many of our neighbors watch "NCIS" and not one of us has ever seen a word about the marital status of Cote de Pablo or Pauley Perrette. Help!

A: De Pablo, who plays Ziva on the long-running CBS series, has long been in a relationship with actor Diego Serrano. She told Prevention magazine a couple of years ago that they balance each other. "My partner's idea of fun is to dress up, get in the car, pump the music, go clubbing. I could not be further away from that. I love being at home, having friends over," she said.

“Jesse Owens: American Experience” takes a fascinating look at the legendary track and field athlete who wreaked havoc with Adolf Hitler’s goal of using the 1936 Berlin Olympics as a showcase for the superiority of Aryan athletes. The documentary airs Tuesday on KUED Channel 7.

'American Experience' takes a fascinating look at Jesse Owens

He humiliated Hitler and then was repeatedly humiliated in his own country. He was an international track star, but the American track powers punished him for defying their attempt to make money from his sweat. His skill should have transcended race, and eventually would, but to an Associated Press writer in 1936, he was "the brown Buckeye bullet."

Emily Deschanel

Emily Deschanel a mom, Robert Redford still acting

Q: Besides having a baby on "Bones," we know that Emily Deschanel has a baby of her own. Is she married? And how is she related to the girl who plays the lead on "New Girl"?

A: Emily Deschanel, who plays Temperance Brennan on Fox's "Bones," is married to actor-writer-producer David Hornsby of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "Unsupervised" and other shows. They wed in September 2010. A year later they welcomed their first child, a son named Henry. Emily Deschanel is the older sister of Zooey Deschanel of "New Girl." They are daughters of Caleb Deschanel, a well-regarded cinematographer and director, and actress Mary Jo Deschanel.

David Tutera

Fan wants details about David Tutera

Q: I so admire David Tutera. Can you tell me about him? He appears to have a significant other (silver ring). He has to be amazingly wealthy: his own show, dress and jewelry lines, Most of all, he seems to be a very nice person.

Singer Perry Como on the “Perry Como Show” set.

Remembering Perry Como's closing theme song

Q: Could you tell me the closing theme song for the Perry Como show?

A: Como, for those of you tuning in late, was an enormously popular singer for decades. His hits included "Hot Diggity," "Catch a Falling Star," "Magic Moments," "It's Impossible," "Ko Ko Mo," "Round and Round" and "Papa Loves Mambo." A former barber, Como was noted for a relaxed performing and personal style. And, according to the Kennedy Center, which honored Como in 1987, the Canonsburg, Pa., native got his music career rolling after a successful audition with a dance band in Lorain, Ohio.

NBC
Jason Isaacs stars as Michael Britten on “Awake.”

Who's alive and dead on 'Awake'?

Q: A friend and I are each watching the new show "Awake." My friend believes that the son is the only one who died in the crash. I have a feeling that both his wife and son died. There are scenes that show the wife interacting with others when the husband isn't present. So my friend is probably correct. Also, is the male psychotherapist real and the female one a dream? I think the storyline is almost too difficult to follow. I may lose interest if I can't figure out the basics.

Patrick Wilson stars as Dr. Michael Holt on “A Gifted Man.”

CBS

'A Gifted Man' has uncertain future

Q: One of my favorite shows is "A Gifted Man." I hope that the most recent episode was not the last one. Please, please do not cancel it. There are so few good shows on TV anymore that don't show all kinds of bad stuff.

Daphne Oz

'Chew' chef is the daughter of Dr. Oz

Q: Is Daphne Oz the wife or daughter of Dr. Oz? "The View" is on ABC at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday; she is one of the four chefs.

A: First of all, you are confusing "The View" with "The Chew," the new ABC daytime show about food-related topics; that is what's in that time slot and where Daphne Oz is a co-host. That said, according to her ABC bio, Daphne Oz is the daughter of Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz; Mehmet Oz is, of course, better known as TV's Dr. Oz.

Fox
Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz star on “Bones.”

What happened to entertaining 'Bones'?

Q: Has the TV show "Bones" on Fox been canceled? Has it aired and I have missed it? The last show I saw was when Bones and Booth had found an apartment to live together and their baby had not been born yet. I really like this show and I hope it has not been canceled.

Gary SInise

TV Q&A: Where have all the TV shows gone?

Q: What happened to "CSI: NY"? I can't find it anywhere in my TV listings.

A: The series starring Gary Sinise and Sela Ward has been on a long hiatus. It is slated to return March 30.

Winter and spring are tricky times for TV shows across the network schedule. One reason is that even the most successful prime-time broadcast shows make only about 22 episodes in a season that runs more than 40 weeks. That means networks either have to air reruns -- which in many cases will not hold on to a show's audience -- or try out new programs. By winter, as well, the worst performers from the previous fall are gone, so new programs have to fill the gaps. Shows from the previous fall may also be tried out in different time slots. And the winter has included the return of several shows that eat up big chunks of prime time, like "American Idol" and "The Voice," so some programs get moved around or benched.

Hal Linden

Hal Linden movie difficult to find

Q: In the '80s there was a movie called "When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder?" It starred Marjoe Gortner, Hal Linden, Candy Clark and others. I can't find it, or even a mention of it, listed with the many stars who were in it. Could someone have bought the rights to it and is that why it can't be listed anywhere?

Bernie Mac

The stars come out to honor Bernie Mac

Comedian and actor Bernie Mac died in August 2008 from problems related to inflammatory lung disease, and it's still hard to believe his voice has been silenced.

As is evident in a new TV tribute to Bernie, it was a gruff voice, sometimes accompanied by an intimidating stare. But it was also one capable of the tenderness he demonstrated on his Fox sitcom "The Bernie Mac Show" during its 2001-06 run.

And, apparently, in life. "I Ain't Scared of You: A Tribute to Bernie Mac," premiering at 11 p.m. Sunday on Comedy Central, contains affectionate and often funny testimony to Mac's skills as a comedian and a person.

Richard Belzer

Belzer in Sha Na Na? 'Lights Out' is out

Q: I'd like to know if the man who plays on "Law & Order," I think his last name is Bowzer, is the same man who sang with the group Sha Na Na.

A: You are probably confusing Richard Belzer and Jon "Bowzer" Bauman. Bauman was a member of Sha Na Na for about 15 years and for many its most memorable member. He now performs with Bowzer and the Stingrays; you can catch up on his other recent activities at his website, www.bowzerparty.com. On "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Belzer plays Detective John Munch, a character who was originally on the series "Homicide: Life on the Street." (After the Baltimore-set "Homicide" was canceled, Munch moved to New York and the "SVU" job.)
