Congress should put on 'big boy pants,' fix budget

Editor,

With the sequestration about to hit America, the people who we elected to sit on Capitol Hill should share in the pain they are about to cause millions of Americans.  With Congressional office budgets of about $574 million annually, there is a bit of saving to be gained just from them. If you add in their salaries and benefits, the cost climbs to an estimated $6 billion a year.  It seems to me that the American people are not getting a very good return on our investment there. There should be a 20 percent meat axe chop straight off the top of the money that we, The American people, pay out to the few who sit up there.

Congress keeps putting sequester on the back burner

Editor,

With the sequester coming at the country like a runaway train, politicians seem to be worried more about immigration reform and gun control, not what will happen when the DOD furloughs its 800,000 workers for one day a week for 22 weeks. That is a 20 percent pay loss every week for 22 weeks.

Sequestration looms large as Congress fiddles

Editor,

Now that elections are over, Congress is back to their same old games. No longer do they have to act like they care about the American people, they can go back to breaking the backs of the people who put them in power and lining their pockets with lobbyist money. They don’t care that only 17.8 percent of the Americans polled think they are doing a good job.
