CHICAGO -- Kobe Bryant has yet to call Chicago Sky center Sylvia Fowles.

Like any NBA player contemplating competing overseas during the lockout, Bryant would get more helpful information than a Frommer's travel guide from his WNBA counterparts.

Slimmed-down McCamey of Illinois eyes first round of NBA draft

CHICAGO -- Demetri McCamey returned to Illinois for his senior season in part to solidify himself as a first-round NBA draft pick.

According to McCamey, he's close to achieving that goal.

"I got great feedback, and it's looking like I'll definitely be a first-rounder," McCamey said Thursday at the draft combine at Attack Athletics on the Near West Side. "But you don't want to let off the gas. Each and every workout, you want to prove you belong."

It's make-or-break time for NCAA bubble teams

The three main candidates for national player of the year have been jockeying for position this season with jaw-dropping performances, clutch plays and solid statistics. The debate is heating up over who is the best. It looks like a race between BYU's Jimmer Fredette and Connecticut's Kemba Walker, but don't count out Ohio State freshman Jared Sullinger.
