Review: Watch this; you’ll likely have more appreciation for Cesar Chavez

Standard-Examiner correspondent, Steve Salles
Mar 27 2014 - 6:16pm

As a young boy growing up in Central California, I often heard the name of Cesar Chavez. My parents would use words like "troublemaker" and one of my favorite expressions -- "rabble rouser."I later came to appreciate a different side of what the man tried to do for the farm workers, but until I saw this movie, I had no idea to what lengths he...

‘Noah’ messes with beliefs, but it’s OK if you have open mind

Standard-Examiner correspondent, Steve Salles
Mar 27 2014 - 4:21pm

It takes guts to take on an iconic character, especially one from the Holy Bible, since now you're messing with somebody's religious beliefs. Standard-Examiner correspondent, Steve Salles
Feb 28 2014 - 12:25pm

GO: If you're glad someone has made the effort to tell the story of Jesus Christ in a major motion picture -- other than Mel Gibson.DON'T GO: If you think Christianity is something best left for Sunday School. Yes, this is a film compilation of the 10-hour miniseries "The Bible" based on the life of Jesus Christ, but it may be talked about...
