Other states would declare Garn a pedophile

After reading the Standard-Examiner's July 12 news story, "Hot-tub accuser dead," I was prompted to write this letter. Former Utah Republican majority leader, Kevin Garn continues to walk free without paying a legal penalty for what he did to Cheryl Maher, a 15-year-old teenager when he was in his 30s, married, her employer, her Mormon bishop and her Sunday school teacher.

Mumbai blasts -- The U.S. connection

There was considerable coverage in the press about U.S. army major, Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 and wounded 30 at Fort Hood on Nov 5, 2009. Hasan was an American-born Muslim of Palestinian descent.

Pakistan vs. Afghanistan -- a perspective

An intense debate is going on about sending more troops to Afghanistan. Republican leaders are chastising President Obama for not acting quickly and sending 40,000 troops as General McChrystal has requested. Democratic leaders are urging that troop buildup would be irresponsible.
