Centerville council approves appointments

CENTERVILLE — New appointments are in place following approval by the city council.

The council approved newly sworn-in Councilman Larry Wright to serve as mayor pro tem for 2012.

The council also opted to have Councilman Justin Allen continue to serve as the COG Transportation representative for the city and for Mayor Ronald Russell to serve on the board for the art center.

Appointments were made at a city council meeting.

CENTERVILLE — With the pending retirement of City Recorder Marilyn Holje, the city council is considering reorganizing the recorder’s office.

CLEARFIELD -- Because an area business is next to a residential area, it will not be allowed to have storage taller than six feet.

'Clearfield University' offers insight into city government

CLEARFIELD -- People now have the chance to learn about the inner workings of a city through an eight-week class.

Clearfield University is free to residents and has room for 20 participants.

The class, to be held every Thursday starting in March, will be taught by elected officials and city staff, and will include tours, simulations, games and lectures.

Centerville amends budget to settle retirement agreement with judge

CENTERVILLE -- The city council is amending its budget by more than $48,000 to cover a settlement agreement regarding retirement for a justice court judge.

Clearfield PD will provide constable services, for now

CLEARFIELD — The city will be using its police department to provide the services of a constable until a newly appointed, temporary provider can fill this need.

New specialty zone in Clearfield to open up tax incentives

CLEARFIELD -- Businesses here will continue to be eligible for tax incentives by participating in a statewide program made possible by a recently approved specialty zone.

Centerville waiting to act on Chase Lane property

CENTERVILLE — With a change in ownership on the much-talked about Chase Lane property, the city council is opting to hold off on pursuing any action at this time.
