Using just one eye, photographer shares visions

OGDEN -- Nathan Caulford doesn't remember the exact age or moment when he realized he was different from other children, but he does remember kids staring and pointing at him in the grocery store.

Caulford was born with a large, dark hemangioma that covered the right side of his face. Severe glaucoma on that side required the removal of his right eye.

According to the Vascular Birthmark Foundation website, www.birthmark.org, a hemangioma is a cluster of veins usually found on the head and neck area. Caulford's is a compound hemangioma, meaning the vein cluster is both superficial and deep.

Special delivery: Midwife spends four decades in baby business

OGDEN -- When Chris Miller began her career as a midwife in California almost 40 years ago, she only had three children and thought her family was complete. She went on to have five more.

The Honor Guard at Hill Air Force Base is the epitome of military precision. From the position of the thumbs to the speed of the marches and salutes, each move is perfectly timed and choreographed. On the uniforms, stripes and ribbons are the only individual variations. Tech. Sgt. Thomas Smith says the absence of nametags contributes to the group's cohesion as representatives of the U.S. military.

Smith heads up the Honor Guard at Hill Air Force Base. Of the 30-person staff, he's the only full-time member.
