Singer Perry Como on the “Perry Como Show” set.

Remembering Perry Como's closing theme song

Q: Could you tell me the closing theme song for the Perry Como show?

A: Como, for those of you tuning in late, was an enormously popular singer for decades. His hits included "Hot Diggity," "Catch a Falling Star," "Magic Moments," "It's Impossible," "Ko Ko Mo," "Round and Round" and "Papa Loves Mambo." A former barber, Como was noted for a relaxed performing and personal style. And, according to the Kennedy Center, which honored Como in 1987, the Canonsburg, Pa., native got his music career rolling after a successful audition with a dance band in Lorain, Ohio.

Who's alive and dead on 'Awake'?

Q: A friend and I are each watching the new show "Awake." My friend believes that the son is the only one who died in the crash. I have a feeling that both his wife and son died. There are scenes that show the wife interacting with others when the husband isn't present. So my friend is probably correct. Also, is the male psychotherapist real and the female one a dream? I think the storyline is almost too difficult to follow. I may lose interest if I can't figure out the basics.

Cash mobs are spreading

AKRON, Ohio -- An international movement to support local businesses with a spurt of sales called a "Cash Mob" started in Cleveland last fall and is spreading.

Daphne Oz

'Chew' chef is the daughter of Dr. Oz

Q: Is Daphne Oz the wife or daughter of Dr. Oz? "The View" is on ABC at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday; she is one of the four chefs.

A: First of all, you are confusing "The View" with "The Chew," the new ABC daytime show about food-related topics; that is what's in that time slot and where Daphne Oz is a co-host. That said, according to her ABC bio, Daphne Oz is the daughter of Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz; Mehmet Oz is, of course, better known as TV's Dr. Oz.

Rocky D, a 156-pound loggerhead sea turtle, was the first patient to arrive at the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, FLa., after he was rescued on Jan. 10, 2012. Rocky was suffering from ingesting plastic.

Hospital helps troubled turtles

If you listened carefully, you could almost hear the little green sea turtle squeal with delight as his caretaker gave him a vigorous back rub.

Just like humans, Izzy, as he is affectionately known by employees and volunteers at the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, Fla., loves a good scratch, said Gunnar Zollinger, a biologist with the nonprofit Turtle Hospital, a turtle rescue, rehabilitation and release center in the center of the Florida Keys.

"Greens have thinner shells," Zollinger told the crowd during a recent tour. "They are the only ones that like to be scratched."

Gary SInise

TV Q&A: Where have all the TV shows gone?

Q: What happened to "CSI: NY"? I can't find it anywhere in my TV listings.

A: The series starring Gary Sinise and Sela Ward has been on a long hiatus. It is slated to return March 30.

Winter and spring are tricky times for TV shows across the network schedule. One reason is that even the most successful prime-time broadcast shows make only about 22 episodes in a season that runs more than 40 weeks. That means networks either have to air reruns -- which in many cases will not hold on to a show's audience -- or try out new programs. By winter, as well, the worst performers from the previous fall are gone, so new programs have to fill the gaps. Shows from the previous fall may also be tried out in different time slots. And the winter has included the return of several shows that eat up big chunks of prime time, like "American Idol" and "The Voice," so some programs get moved around or benched.

Edible landscaping takes food plants beyond bounds of vegetable patch

Food plants have jumped the fence from the kitchen garden.

They’re making their way into the landscape, doing double duty as both food sources and things of beauty.

It’s a movement called edible landscaping, and there’s good reason for it, advocates say. Edible landscaping encourages and simplifies local food production, with all its health and environmental benefits.

Irving scores 34 points, takes home MVP in Rising Stars game

ORLANDO, Fla. -- When the Eastern Conference needed a substitute for Joe Johnson in Sunday's All-StarGame, Rajon Rondo was named as a replacement. Kyrie Irving's performance in Friday night's Rising Stars exhibition proved that might have been a mistake.

Irving had 34 points on 12-of-13 shooting and nine assists to win the Most Valuable Player award in Team Chuck's 146-133 victory over Tristan Thompson and Team Shaq. On a night that began with Jeremy Lin holding his own news conference -- the only player to do so this weekend -- it ended with Irving making all eight of his 3-point attempts and dazzling a crowd that came to cheer Lin and left remembering the same guy drafted No. 1 overall last summer was the one carrying out the MVP award.

Bernie Mac

The stars come out to honor Bernie Mac

Comedian and actor Bernie Mac died in August 2008 from problems related to inflammatory lung disease, and it's still hard to believe his voice has been silenced.

As is evident in a new TV tribute to Bernie, it was a gruff voice, sometimes accompanied by an intimidating stare. But it was also one capable of the tenderness he demonstrated on his Fox sitcom "The Bernie Mac Show" during its 2001-06 run.

And, apparently, in life. "I Ain't Scared of You: A Tribute to Bernie Mac," premiering at 11 p.m. Sunday on Comedy Central, contains affectionate and often funny testimony to Mac's skills as a comedian and a person.

Richard Belzer

Belzer in Sha Na Na? 'Lights Out' is out

Q: I'd like to know if the man who plays on "Law & Order," I think his last name is Bowzer, is the same man who sang with the group Sha Na Na.

A: You are probably confusing Richard Belzer and Jon "Bowzer" Bauman. Bauman was a member of Sha Na Na for about 15 years and for many its most memorable member. He now performs with Bowzer and the Stingrays; you can catch up on his other recent activities at his website, www.bowzerparty.com. On "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Belzer plays Detective John Munch, a character who was originally on the series "Homicide: Life on the Street." (After the Baltimore-set "Homicide" was canceled, Munch moved to New York and the "SVU" job.)

Q: Who is Barry Weiss on "Storage Wars" and what is his background? He seems to know a lot of famous people and has a lot of nice toys.

Cemetery opens plots for pets next to humans

KENT, Ohio -- Families have been known to skirt cemetery rules in trying to reunite Fido or Patches with their owners, slipping a tiny tub of ashes into a casket or sprinkling their remains at a grave site when no one's looking.

But come spring, animal lovers won't have to be surreptitious anymore at Standing Rock Cemetery.

Woman's wrong number call leads to help from stranger

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio -- Dialing the right wrong number may have saved the life of a Cuyahoga Falls woman.

Loretta Smith, 70, said a complete stranger many states away came to her rescue Saturday when she fell ill.
