On Ogden’s scenic, historic Indian Trail

Ogden spoils outdoor enthusiasts with a plethora of world-class hiking trails that vary in landscape, difficulty and technical challenge. But if you find yourself in a conversation with a fellow hiker, Indian Trail is sure to come up for its aesthetic and historical value.

Native Americans used sections of this elevated path to avoid Ogden Canyon’s high spring waters, and although the Ogden River isn’t a challenge these days, modern folk still enjoy Indian Trail for its incredible diversity: Conifer forests, cold-water creeks, mountain bowls, the fresh aroma of timber pines and sagebrush and the stunning views.

Take a Hike: Weber River and Ogden River Parkways

Whether you are looking for an easy afternoon stroll with the family, an invigorating run or just want to relax next to the water, the Weber River and Ogden River Parkways have something for you.

This 12-mile paved trail from Rainbow Gardens at the mouth of Ogden Canyon to Riverdale is Ogden's premier trail for all modes of transportation. Walkers, runners, skaters, bikers, babies in strollers and people in wheelchairs all enjoy the parkways.

The Ogden River Parkway has been open for more than 10 years. The Weber River Parkway was opened in the summer of 2009 with the help of Ogden City, Riverdale City, Ogden Trails Network, Weber Pathways, and with major funding from the RAMP tax. The trail is paved all the way except for 100 yards near 21st Street and Wall Avenue. Because of flood damage this spring and summer, there is a detour to the west of Serge Simmons Field near Fort Buenaventura.
