Historic photos of the first African-Americans in Utah

The history of the African-American community in Northern Utah is strongly tied to the railroad industry and the jobs that came to Ogden and Salt Lake City in the early 20th century. However, there were some African-Americans who came to the region earlier on as mountain men, ranchers, soldiers, slaves and Mormon pioneers.
