Ogden business owners Marcy Rizzo of Booked on 25th and Kylee Hallows of Lavender Vinyl marked International Women's Day with a "Day Without a Woman" event March 8, 2017, at Harp and Hound in Ogden. The pair closed their businesses for the day “to stand in solidarity for those who have fought and those who continue to fight for equality for all,” according to a sign posted on each business' entrance. More than 20 women and allies showed up in red for the gathering, which was held in conjunction with national "Day Without a Woman" strikes and protests. “Of course I wanted to meet women in my town who have this enthusiasm,” said retiree Caril Jennings, who was there with her daughter Cristine Jennings, a professor at Weber State University. “Speaking out and talking to each other is a good way to build community and to remind ourselves that we’re doing this for a reason.”
