Former 388th Fighter Wing pilot returns to take command  
A former 421st Fighter Squadron commander returned to take command of the 388th Fighter Wing in a ceremony Tuesday in Hangar 37.

84th CSW acting director retires from Air Force after 26 years  
"I'm leaving the Air Force after 26 1/2 years. I have had an incredibly blessed career," said Col. Michael Holbert, former acting director of the 84th Combat Sustainment Wing.
 
Memorial services Friday for Capt. Houghton  
A memorial service has been set for 4:21 p.m. Friday in Hangar 37 to honor the life and service of Capt. George Houghton, a 388th Fighter Wing pilot who died when the F-16 he was flying crashed at the Utah Test and Training Range Monday.
 
Splash pad at Centennial Park to open this summer  
The 75th Civil Engineering Group recently announced a new, free splash pad will be opening for Hill Air Force Base families at Centennial Park sometime around the first week of July.

Hill Air Force Base scored a few major victories June 17 as the House Armed Services Committee approved the 2010 Defense Authorization Bill.

Last month, the 75th Force Support Squadron hosted a month-long fitness extravaganza in honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports month, as proclaimed by President Barack Obama to encourage Americans to take control of their health and wellness

Nearly 10,000 people are injured each year in the United States from fireworks. Many of these injuries result from the use of illegal fireworks or misusing legal fireworks.
 
Airmen awarded scholarships by Logistics Officer Association  
The Logistics Officer Association held its scholarship awards luncheon June 22 at Club Hill to award $5,500 in scholarship monies and to announce the association's new executive board members.

Law Day 2009 celebrates Lincoln's legacy of liberty  
The 75th Air Base Wing Office of the Staff Judge Advocate hosted a luncheon June 11 at Club Hill to honor Law Day 2009, a day that has been nationally recognized since 1958 to celebrate the principles of government under law.
 
Opportunity knocks and Airman Gaitan responds -- awarded twice in the same day  
On June 1, the American government rewarded one of its hard-working Airmen, as fortune struck twice for Airman 1st Class Enrique Gaitan, a Knowledge Operations manager in the 388th Equipment Maintenance Squadron.
