Review improves nozzles for Minutemen  
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- A team of scientists and engineers at the Air Force Research Laboratory Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, in collaboration with Ogden Air Logistics Center (Hill AFB), and industry, have resolved a challenging technical issue confronting the nation's land-based Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile force.
 
AF officials will accept physician assistant aps beginning November 1  
RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --Air Force officials are taking applications from active-duty enlisted Airmen for Physician Assistant Phase I training classes which begin January, April and August 2010.
 
Senior AF leaders give directives  
WASHINGTON -- Senior Air Force leaders gathered for a strategic summit Aug. 27 at Bolling Air Force Base to discuss the way ahead for the Air Force as a part of the August emphasis on strategic planning.
 
JAG law school applications begin in January  
Applications for the Funded Legal Education Program and Excess Leave Program will be accepted Jan. 1-March 1. Interested officers are encouraged to compete.

Air Force Ball tickets on sale, Team Hill invited to dinner, dance  
Tickets for the Air Force Ball are now available. The ball will be held at the Davis Conference Center on the evening of Sept. 19, and the event is open to both military and civilian workers at Hill Air Force Base and their guests.
 
Free mental health classes  
BOUNTIFUL -- The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Davis County is offering a 12-week family education course beginning today, Sept. 4, at the Davis Behavioral Health building, 470 Medical Drive, Bountiful. There is no cost to participants in the Davis County Family-to-Family Education Program.

JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq -- The commander of U.S. Air Forces Central and U.S. Central Command Combined Forces Air Component Commander recently reminded commanders in the AOR that all Airmen in the USCENTCOM area of responsibility are required to have an EagleCash Stored Value Card.

The staff is busy getting ready for the Commander's Cup golf tournament to be held Sept. 11 this year. "The Commander Cup is a great event," said Andy Peidl, Hubbard Golf Course assistant golf pro.
 
Hill museum gets state grant  
SALT LAKE CITY -- The Office of Museum Services recently awarded a total of $322,952 in grants to museums throughout Utah. The 78 museums receiving the grants will use the money to improve displays, meet preservation and cataloging issues, address structural needs, and develop educational programs that coincide with exhibitions. Hill Aerospace Museum received a Project Support Grant of $6,000.
 
OO-ALC takes back Sandbagger trophy  
Since 1999, the Sandbaggers Golf Tournament trophy has been passed back and forth between the Ogden Air Logistics Center and the Military Affairs Committee, a joint effort of the Ogden-Weber and Davis Chambers of Commerce. This year, it was the OO-ALC's turn to take the trophy from the Military Affairs Committee, which has possessed the trophy for the past three years, after the last game of the two-part tournament on Aug. 27.

Capt. Sean P. Strope was presented a Bronze Star Medal at a ceremony at the Hill Air Force Base Clinic and received his award from Col. Linda Medler, 75th Air Base Wing commander, on Sept. 3.

Chiefs Golf Tournament raises funds, Team Hill spirit  
First place went to Matt Neilson, Mike Neilson, Brit Sharp and Jeff Anderson; second place to Kent Moore, Jack Creager, Jeff Shaw and Blaine Goodell; and third place to Tony Bomar, Reed Sorenson, John Graft and Jim Sanders. The first place team took the honors at the Hill Air Force Base Chiefs Golf Tournament on Aug. 22, with a score of 22 under.
 
Wrap up the summer safely  
It may not be the perfect storm, but it is shaping up to be a pretty good one.
 
Hill's new Fitness Director wants your ideas, input  
The new fitness director at Hill Air Force Base wants you to know that enhancing customer service for all patrons, including military, family members and civilians, is one of the first things on his mind these days in addition to supporting the unit commanders' PT program, the Fitness Center's top mission.
