Salt Lake Liberty Days, July 4-5
Celebrate the anniversary of the country's independence with a mini-rodeo, relay races, old-time baseball game and a patriotic program in the Bowery, and more. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children and seniors. For more information, call 582-1847 or visit thisistheplace.org.
Music, barbecue and mountains
July 4th Concert and barbecue with the classic rock music of "The Kap Brothers Band" will be held at the Main Plaza at Snowbasin Ski Resort. Barbecue will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the free concert will be held 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations not required.
CJC Freedom Ride for the Kids, July 4
The Friends of the Weber/Morgan Children's Justice Center invite you to join the ride for freedom and justice for child victims of crime (primarily sexual and physical abuse) at the first CJC Freedom Ride for the Kids.
The scavenger style motorcycle ride is scheduled for Independence Day, July 4, beginning with breakfast at 9 a.m. at Golden Spike Harley, 892 Riverdale Road, Ogden. Ride up Ogden Canyon,taking in Monte Cristo Peak, up through Evanston, before arriving in Stoddard for lunch and a party to follow. $35 pre-registration fee includes ride, t-shirt, pin, breakfast and lunch, plus a wrist band for the Hot Rock'n 4th celebration in Ogden. Day of event, registration is $40.

Ogden Sierra Club, Mollen's Hollow Overlook Hike, July 4
The Ogden Group maintains an active schedule of outings including day hikes, bicycle tours, ski/snowshoe tours and occasional overnight trips. This spectacular hike in the Monte Cristo Range has become a 4th of July tradition. About 6 miles round trip, not too steep (great for families), through meadows and forests atop a rolling plateau. The first half of the trail is open to ATVs -- but perhaps when they see hikers they'll go another way. Call leader Dan Schroeder at 393.4603 for details. Salt Lake City Bees fireworks
The Salt Lake City Bees host the Tucson Sidewinders July 4, 7:05 p.m. There will be a fireworks show following the game. For more information call 325-2273.
