Seminar set to help keep students safe
Expert insight and discussion for today's high school and college environment will be offered at a free seminar. Youths 12 years of age and older are invited to the seminar 5 p.m., July 22, at the Club Hill Ballroom.

Outage planned in hot water steam lines
A multi-building area will be affected by an annual repair on July 27.

Facilities will include Buildings: 244, 245, 250, 252, 345, 348, 349, 350, 351, 357, 358, 361, 363, 364, 430, 440, 441, 445, 450, 460, 461, 475, 517, 518, 519 ,520, 521, 523, 525 and 534.

There will be a hot water steam system outage starting at midnight for annual repairs to the Steam Plant Building 519 distribution system and to install valves for a new steam line to Boiler Plant 825.

Road work to close parts of Southgate
A Phase 3 project effort began July 7 on Southgate Drive from Building 240 to Building 279, and the gate entrance has business access.

Starting approximately July 17 the south half of this phase will continue just south of Building 279 and will affect the parking lot entrances around the north side of Building 244. Alternate crosswalk routes between Building 244 and the gate entrance will be clearly marked during this construction.

Southgate paving near Building 237
A pavement construction project began on July 15 affecting the crosswalk between Building 237 and Building 230. The crosswalk will be closed during this construction and the parking lot entrance will be affected.

Building 5 parking lot to be blocked
To complete construction requirements for a project to correct grounding problems in Building 5, the roads and parking lots around Building 5 will be partially blocked from July 21 to July 26.

Avenue C on the west side of Building 5 will have the east lane (northbound) partially blocked. Southgate Drive on the east side of Building 5, west lane (southbound), will also be partially blocked.

Parking lots on the east and west sides of Building 5 and in the center may be blocked at times. Delays of up to one hour could occur during working hours. It is recommended that motorists use Lot 1 that week to avoid dirt and sand that drift onto nearby vehicles.

Utah Veterans Rock! concert in Sandy
A concert to salute Utah's soldiers, veterans and their families will be held July 21, 7 p.m., at the Sandy Ampitheater, 9400 S. 1300 East. The concert is free for veterans.

A tribute band to the Beatles will perform the Fab 4's tunes and Phil Dirt and the Dozers will play a selection of top hits.

Free Centennial Celebration concert
The U.S. Army Reserves will be hosting a Centennial Celebration featuring a free concert by Charly Jenkins and the 312th U.S. Army Reserve Band at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City on July 23, 7 p.m. Bring a blanket to sit on the grass and enjoy a music-filled evening. There will be rides, games, food and drinks.

Military families get first pick at sale
The Just Between Friends children consignment sales event is opening its doors to military families to shop before the public. The sale has hundreds of brand-name gently used baby, children and maternity items. Just show your military ID to get in.

The military presale starts July 29, 11:30 a.m., at the Davis County Fairgrounds in Farmington. The sale benefits, in part, the Ogden Christmas Box House children's orphanage. For more information, visit www.jbfsale.com/layton.

Found property held by Security Forces
Security Forces has received more than 50 items of found property from the gym, Club Hill and other public facilities on base. The property consists of watches, keys, jewelry, electronic devices and other miscellaneous items. To claim your property, call 75th Security Forces Investigations at 777-7891. Property will be released upon a thorough description and the location the property was lost.

Contracting briefing ahead for businesses
The Contracting Office at Hill AFB invites area businesses and industry associations to a presentation on Installation Acquisition Transformation. IAT is an Air Force-wide initiative to modify contracting business practices at the Continental United States (CONUS) Installation level to create a more efficient acquisition process.

Attendees can learn about the opportunities and changes the transformation brings to installation-level procurement.

Finance Office hours shortened for picnic
The Finance Office will be closing July 18 at 2 p.m., one hour early, in order to allow personnel to attend the Salute to the Nation's Defenders Picnic.

Family Child Care providers needed
Be a Family Child Care provider. Have a profitable career caring for children in your home. The Family Child Care office, located in Building 460, is always looking for providers. Call the office if you are interested in becoming an FCC provider at 777-0695. If you live on base you must be licensed through the office to provide child care.

Building 366 parking lot set to expand
The 75th Civil Engineer Squadron has a pavement construction project at South-gate Avenue and 8th Street (near Building 366) to expand the parking lot from the southeast corner of Building 366 to the edge of 8th Street.

Construction will start approximately July 21 southeast and south of Building 366. This will affect the parking lot entrance on Southgate Avenue.

Southgate Drive project phase 4
Construction on Southgate Drive (Wardleigh Road to 6th Street) requires the excavation of old concrete, asphalt and some sidewalks and curbs.

Phase 4 will start approxi-mately July 18 on the west half of Southgate Drive from Building 279 to 6th Street. The parking lot entrance south of Building 244 will be closed. On approximately Aug. 1 the east half of this phase will affect the gate entrance at 6th Street; the gate entrance will have business access.

Alternate crosswalks between Building 503 and the parking lot south of Building 244 will be clearly marked during this construction.

Shoppette entrance to close for project
Closure of the south entrance and exit of Building 420 Base Exchange will be affected by construction and will close 7 a.m., July 28, and continue until 4 p.m., Aug. 1, to install concrete steam vault across the south entrance and exit.
