Utah Music Festival
The Utah Music Festival will showcase the vast and varied talent of Utah's musicians Sept. 6. The Ogden Amphitheater will be filled with Utah's local musical and artistic flair. "We hoped for musicians from Logan to St. George and everywhere in between," says co-founder and co-director of the festival, Jared Christensen. "We are hoping for a large spread -- anywhere from 15 to 20 musical groups from any genre," predicts Christensen.

Utah State Fair
Enjoy carnival rides, exhibits and concessions at the Utah State Fair at the Utah State Fairpark in Salt Lake City off Interstate 15 Exit 309. The fair is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. Sept. 11 is Patriot Day, and as a "thank you" to those who selflessly serve our state and country, all military, law enforcement and emergency services personnel, with proper ID, will get in free.

Utah PRCA Rodeo
The Utah State Fair PRCA Rodeo provides four nights of extreme action in six exciting events Sept. 4-7 at 7 p.m. The rodeo is free with paid gate admission to the Utah State Fair. For the pint-sized cowboys and cowgirls weighing less than 50 pounds who are daring enough to participate in the wild and "woolly" Mutton Bustin,' parents can sign them up at the Rodeo Committee Trailer behind the chutes between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. each night of the rodeo. Ten riders and several alternate names will be drawn at random.

Star party
Join the Ogden Astronomical Society and Weber State University for an evening under the stars. Participants can expect to enjoy beautiful celestial views (weather permitting) and stellar conversation with local astronomers. Meet at White Rock Bay at 8:30 p.m., Sept. 6. If you bring a flashlight, please make it a red-colored lens. For more information, call 721-9569.
