All Airmen welcome in push-ups contest
The command chiefs of the 75th Air Base Wing and 388th Fighter Wing are scheduled to hold a push-up contest at the Hess Fitness Center on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m.
The contest is being held to raise funds for the enlisted programs through either a flat donation or "cost-per-push-up" style.
The chiefs decided that the contest provided an easy way to organize a fundraiser that would require very little overhead as well as placing an emphasis on upper body strength.
They are hoping to raise approximately $2,000 to aid organizations that provide services to enlisted personnel.
All proceeds would benefit Hill 56 with enlisted events that it sponsors and Airmen Against Drunk Driving for reimbursement of fuel charges.
"The bottom line is any program that gives back to the Airmen of Hill Air Force Base is eligible," said Chief Master Sgt. Kenneth Czop, 388th Fighter Wing command chief.
Airmen are encouraged to come out and compete or sponsor other competitors. They are also encouraged to come out and show support to those who are participating.
Although the chiefs have issued the challenge they are not taking it lightly. Both have begun to implement changes in their regimes to prepare for the big day.
"I do a pretty regular workout routine and will rely on it to get me a couple of hundred good push-ups, or more, in 10 minutes," Czop said.
The top male and female competitors who perform the most push-ups in ten minutes will receive a $50 gift card.
Physical training leaders and chief volunteers are responsible for monitoring the event and helping with other small details.
Those who wish to participate can register at the front desk of the Warrior Fitness Center until Sept. 5.
