Many shared cooking expertise at YCC event
I would like to express my thanks to the Your Community Connection organization for putting on such a great event recently called "Real Men Can Cook." This event is an annual fundraiser that invites restaurants and men in the community to share their talents and culinary expertise by providing food for lunch and dinner. I was invited to the lunch by one of the YCC representatives and I was so impressed with the event that I decided to participate this year by bringing dessert to the dinner.
Participating in this event was a great experience. The thing that was most impressive to me was talking with the other volunteers to see how they got involved with this activity. I found out that the young man serving next to me had been participating in the event for the past six years. He explained that he had been introduced to the event during his last year of culinary arts at the Ogden Weber ATC. After his first experience, he was hooked, and even though he no longer is baking for a living, he sets aside time each year to participate. I would have to say that I'm hooked, as well.
I would like to say thanks to the YCC and the commercial kitchens that allowed us to prepare our food on their premise.
Plain and simple, this was a great event. If you haven't participated in the past, I would encourage you to get involved next year.
