LAYTON -- Business is apparently good in Davis County, with more than 50 businesses and organizations committing to the county's first Davis Business 2 Business Expo.
The expo, sponsored by the Davis Chamber of Commerce, will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Davis Conference Center, 800 Heritage Park Blvd., Layton.
Chamber officials are surprised and pleased by the number of groups reserving exhibitor space at the event, said Chamber of Commerce President John Pitt.
He said event organizers were anticipating about 40 businesses to accept an invitation to attend the event, but had prepared to move forward if only 30 participants committed to the expo.
"We figured we would need to establish the viability of the event the first year, and then we could increase participation each successive year," said Jeanie Shehan-Bosen, chamber events director.
"Instead, we have filled the entire exhibit space and have had to continually redesign the event layout to accommodate dozens of additional businesses that have responded to our invitation," she said.
Pitt said he is thrilled with the response.
"We've moved the Davis Chamber and the Channel 17 booths out to the lobby so that we could accommodate more businesses inside the exhibit hall," he said.
The expo will include seminars, food, giveaways and networking opportunities to build business and expand consumer knowledge.
With the exhibit space almost filled, Pitt said the focus has now shifted entirely to drawing business community and public attendees to the event.
To promote attendance, the chamber is distributing "Reminder Admission Passes" throughout the county, even though the event is free and no tickets are needed.
