* Church Women United of Ogden will celebrate World Day of Prayer today at First United Methodist Church, 2604 Jefferson Ave., Ogden. * Mountain View Baptist Church, on SR 193 just off Highway 89, Layton, invites the community to a musical pilgrimage via a Jewish Passover Seder at 10:15 a.m. The Jews for Jesus missionary, Susan Mendelson, will walk guests through a Seder dinner weaving the story of the Exodus together with the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. * Worldwide offering for One Great Hour of Sharing will be collected at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 3350 Harrison Blvd., Ogden. Special project for 2008 in this annual offering is providing investments and grants to families living in poverty to obtain credit and start their own small businesses. * Grace Bible Ministries will hold a time of prayer at 9:30 a.m., with Sunday School beginning at 10:a.m, with worship to follow at 11 a.m. During the Sunday school hour, we are studying what message Jesus Christ gave to the seven churches in Revelation. The discussion is led by Pastor Lynn Weston, and those attending will have a study guide for their use. The worship message will be from 1 John. The church is at 879 W. * FBC/NBCC 'Together in Faith' is beginning a Sunday School study of Paul's New Testament letter to the Church of Rome. * New Zion Baptist Church, 2935 Lincoln Ave., Ogden, has several upcoming events. A Women and Girls Health Conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 8, in observance of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness to increase awareness of current health issues and their impact. The conference will feature workshops, a panel discussion by health professionals and more. Women and girls of all ages are encouraged to attend.
The church will hold its Spring Revival with services at 7 p.m. each night, March 12-14. The church anniversary celebration will be at 3:30 p.m. March 16 with the theme "Called to be a True Witness for Christ." Revivalist speaker will be Pastor Bruce Davis of New Zion Baptist Church. * The Prayer Shawl Ministry of the First United Methodist Church is hosting its first multi-denominational pot luck at 6 p.m. March 6. The theme will be Saint Patrick's Day, so all are welcome to wear your green and bring a fun covered dish to share. Main course of corned beef and cabbage, as well as iced tea and coffee will be furnished. Bring your knit and crochet shawl projects to work on and discuss for after dinner. * Susan Mendelson, speaking on behalf of Jews for Jesus, will compare the common elements of Jewish Passover and Jesus' Last Supper in a presentation called "Christ in the Passover" at Canyon Road Assembly of God, 1390 Canyon Road in Ogden, on March 9 at 6 p.m. Using a visual display of traditional Passover accoutrements, the presentation enhances the Christian's understanding and appreciation of the Jewish background of the Christian Communion. Ancient and modern Jewish customs are discussed and described with an emphasis on the aspect of redemption which Christ accomplished at Calvary. The program is open to the general public and Mendelson will be available to answer questions. A free-will offering will be received to help the ministry of Jews for Jesus.
* CALM (Community After Leaving Mormonism) meets at 7 p.m. March 26 at Layton City Library, 155 N. Wasatch Drive, Layton. We will screen the film "The Lost Book of Abraham."
