Falcon Hill development closer to realization

KAYSVILLE -- The Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park took one more step toward realization on Tuesday.

The newly renamed Falcon Hill project, formerly known as the West Side Development project, will attract software, engineering, composite, computer and other manufacturing companies to the park that encompasses 600 acres on the west side of Hill Air Force Base.

Officials from the Military Installation Development Authority drafted a resolution of support to present to the four cities that border Hill Air Force Base's west side.

MIDA Chairman Stuart Adams said he hopes the cities of Clearfield, Riverdale, Roy and Sunset will pass and adopt the resolution sometime in the next 30 days.

"We have met with city managers and mayors in the past few weeks and all the political entities are very supportive of the project," Adams said. "It's good to know we have the support."

MIDA hopes to form a final agreement between the Air Force, the cities and Sunset Ridge Development, LLC, the prospective developer of Falcon Hill, by May 29.

"This is a huge project," Adams said. "It's the biggest economic development opportunity in Northern Utah, if not the whole state."
