One of four contestants to be crowned Miss Rodeo Ogden
OGDEN -- A new Miss Rodeo Ogden will be crowned Saturday.
Four Utah women will compete for the title. They are Lacey Bennett, 20, of Hooper; Renae Cowley, 20, of West Point; Stormy Marie Henderson, 21, of Riverton, and Ashlee Stewart, 20, of Fairview.
The winner will make appearances and participate in other events and rodeos throughout Utah to promote Ogden Pioneer Days, billed as Utah's top statehood celebration.
The winner will be announced at 7 p.m. Saturday at a coronation dinner at Timbermine restaurant, 1701 Park Blvd., Ogden. Cost is $35. Call 621-1696 to RSVP today.
The public also is invited to the horsemanship portion of the contest Saturday. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. at Golden Spike Events Center, 1000 N. 1200 South.
This year's Miss Rodeo Ogden also will represent the city at the Miss Rodeo Utah Pageant held each July in Ogden.
Miss Rodeo Ogden is the modern version of the "Whoopie Girl," the symbol of the Ogden Pioneer Days celebration.
