OGDEN — Got a backhoe?
Well if it’s on an agricultural zone, the backhoe may have to go.
The Weber County Commission unanimously approved an ordinance change this morning which would abolish the current permitted and conditional uses on Ogden Valley agricultural zones.
Scott Mendoza, Weber County Planning Division employee, presented the change to the commission. He said the reason for the change is under current ordinance anyone who owns five or more acres of agricultural land, may use the land for contractor equipment storage.
The intended use of the original 1985 ordinance was to allow farmers to supplement income by storing contractor equipment on their land, Mendoza said.
The change to the ordinance now specifies that the equipment storage and use is to be by a “farm owner, farm employee and/or contracted farm operator.”
The changes go into effect in 15 days.
