HUNTINGTON, Utah (AP) — A new bronze sculpture memorializes the nine men who died at Crandall Canyon last year.
The sculpture, which was unveiled at sunset on Sunday, is at the new Miners Memorial Park near the west end of Huntington.
Artist Karen Jobe Templeton says she made the sculpture six feet high so visitors could look directly at the men’s eyes and faces.
Mayor Hilary Gordon says the memorial will help keep alive the memories of the six who died in the mine collapse on Aug. 6, 2007 and three others who died during a rescue attempt 10 days later.
