SLC man among those killed in California crash

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City man was one of 25 killed Friday when a passenger train hit a freight train in Southern California.

Charles E. Peck worked in customer service for Delta Air Lines at Salt Lake City International Airport.

Friends say he went to California for a job interview. He had hoped to move to Los Angeles where his fiancee lived.

A friend and co-worker says that on Friday, Peck found all flights to Los Angeles were booked. He decided instead to fly into Burbank, Calif., and take a commuter train into the city.

Federal officials are investigating the crash.
