Cache County to get 2 new elementary schools

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — The Cache County School District board has finalized plans for two new elementary schools.

The schools will be built in the communities of Nibley and Smithfield. Both should open to students by fall 2010.

District staff says construction will be funded with $23 million that remains in a bond funded by voters about five years ago.

Growth across the region has prompted the need for additional schools. Enrollment figures from Nibley — 688 elementary school students — is more than twice what is was in March 2004.

Smithfield has added 243 elementary schools students since 2004.
