WASH
INGTON DC — Utah Representatives were split on the $700 billion economic bailout package which passed the U.S. House earlier today.

Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, was the only Utah Representative who voted for the bailout package, said a staffer in Cannon’s Washington DC office.

Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, and Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, both voted against the economic package.

Both Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Sen. Bob Bennet, R-Utah, voted for the bill.

I'm with ya. Get rid of Bennet and Hatch. And I'm glad Cannon is going away. He showed that he is a bitter loser who does not care what damage he does to Utahns as he leaves office. I give thumbs up to Bishop and Matheson, but I don't think they voted to represent their constituencies. They voted against it because they were just scared they would not be re-elected if they supported the bail out. How long have they been in office and they've not done anything to stop the excess. Give them the boot too.

Bishop won my vote. Hatch and Bennett have really shown their true colors this time. If after having recieved such negative feedback from Utahans about this "bailout for Wall Street", why would they vote for this bill? One would conclude they truly do not represent us anymore. I want representation! Not a Big Brother to take care of me!

Kudos to Matheson and Bishop... shame on Hatch and Bennett. I don't care what "party" they are, Matheson and Bishop showed great integrity is understanding and representing the fact that Utahans aren't just concerned about ourselves... we are for whatever is good for our country! Being bought with "pork" is typical political suicide and Hatch and Bennett should pay the price by not being elected next round!
