BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Father, son rescued from mountain
A father and son who were stranded in an area between Ben Lomond Peak and Inspiration Peak in Box Elder County on Saturday afternoon were brought down the mountain by a search and rescue team about 11 p.m. Saturday, Box Elder Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Berry said.
The pair, who are from Davis County, were transported to Brigham City Hospital with symptoms of hypothermia, but no apparent injuries, Berry said.
The two had taken ATVs into the area to hunt, when the harsh weather moved in, Berry said. Authorities received a call from one of the men on a cell phone around 4 p.m. Saturday. Berry said the men told authorities they were cold and wet and did not know where they had left their ATVs.
Berry said about 16 people participated in the search and rescue, reaching the men a little after 8 p.m. Saturday. He said it took "a couple of hours" to drive the men down the mountain.
The ATVs were also found.
