Jury convicts man of threatening state officials

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A jury has convicted an Orem man of making terroristic threats in e-mails to state officials.

Both Lt. Gov Gary Herbert and Rep. Brad Daw, R-Orem, received e-mails from a man who threatened to use lethal force to “overcome government tyranny and oppression.”

Bradley Roberts Taylor, 43, told police he sent the e-mails. Daw knew Taylor through church and says the dozens of e-mails began when Taylor lost his driver license after a drunken driving conviction.

Taylor will face up to 15 years in prison for the second-degree felony when he is sentenced Jan. 7.
