Effects of abortion are substantial
Monday, January 28, 2008
When was the last time you saw an angry, frustrated mother shout at her child in the grocery store? Did you feel bad for her, or did you think, "What a mean, thoughtless woman"? Now, imagine if that woman simply murdered her child. No more inconvenience, fewer groceries to buy, no college to pay for. It's the mother's choice, right?
Abortion is never OK; abortion is murder.
Perhaps, you would say, there are special circumstances. There are often very difficult cases of underage pregnancy or rape. A young woman loaded with more responsibility than she should have to bear -- a constant reminder of a painful experience. Emotional trauma can develop from rape, from the burden of caring for another at a young age. But, studies show that the effects of abortion can be equally substantial.
Abortion is an alternative simply because pregnancy was unexpected, a mistake, a hitch in the plans. Maybe the woman had great goals for a career, or can't give a child a decent home and family life.
There are couples all over the world unable to have children, and adoption agencies are begging to answer the call. Each child, mistake or not, should have the chance at a full life.
Of all things, abortion must never be considered the mother's choice. No one has ever had the right to take the life of another, family or not.
