Bountiful readies its 2012-13 budget early

BOUNTIFUL -- City leaders are putting the final touches on a budget for the next fiscal year early.

Lakeview Hospital earns top ratings

Renee Duerden, 73, of Brigham City, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, because of complications from diabetes. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Brigham City 8th and 17th Ward Chapel, 139 E. 300 North, in Brigham City. Bountiful raises recycling fee 20 cents

The monthly fee to fund a mandatory curb-side recycling program has been raised by 20 cents.

In action taken Jan. 24, the city council voted unanimously to bump up the fee of the service from $3.05 per household each month to $3.25. The added revenue is expected to help the city cover the actual costs of the program.

Bountiful implemented its recycling program in August of 2008. The program is expected to extend the life of the city’s landfill.

South Davis Community Hospital earns employment awards

BOUNTIFUL — South Davis Community Hospital has received two awards for excellence in employment.

The facility was awarded the Utah Work Life 2011 Award by the Utah Division of Workforce Services. It also received a first place ranking in the large employer category placing it as a leader among Utah’s best places to work.

In addition, the facility was named employer of the year by the Davis Chamber of Commerce.

Bill would protect registered voters from identity theft

SALT LAKE CITY -- A Roy lawmaker doesn't think the state should be a partner in aiding identity thieves by selling current voter registration information, including emails and birth dates.

Bountiful drill team to perform for Jazz

BOUNTIFUL -- The Mandonelles, Bountiful High School's award-winning drill team, will perform Monday at EnergySolutions Arena during halftime of the Utah Jazz-versus-Portland Trail Blazers game.

Irvine returns to Bountiful power commission

David Irvine has been reappointed to a four-year term on the city’s power commission.

His appointment was formally ratified by the city council at a recent meeting. He is one of seven members of the board that oversees the activity of the Bountiful City Light & Power Company. Irvine has served on the board since 1998.

Family history registration starts in Bountiful

Early registration for the annual South Davis Regional Family History Fair, sponsored by the Utah Genealogical Association, is under way and continues until Feb. 17.

The fair will be held Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, at Bountiful High School, 695 South Orchard Drive. Late registration and registration at the door will be available.

Bountiful council members get assignments

BOUNTIFUL — Newly elected Councilman Richard Higginson will chair the city’s water committee and also serve on the power committee.
