ORLANDO, Fla. -- The next possible launch of the space shuttle Endeavour has been pushed back again, this time to no earlier than May 10.

NASA delays space shuttle Endeavour's last launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A last-minute technical issue forced NASA officials to scrub the launch of space shuttle Endeavour at about noon EDT on Friday, a move certain to disappoint President Barack Obama, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and hundreds of thousands of spectators who flooded to Florida’s Space Coast.

The issue is one of three heating units aboard Endeavour that is designed to keep fuel lines from freezing in space. While these fuel lines are not particularly critical for launch, they are vital in ensuring that the airplane-like machinery of Endeavour works on re-entry — such as landing gear and its rudder speed brake.

NASA fuels Endeavour for historic last launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Just a few hours from liftoff, NASA fueled space shuttle Endeavour for one last ride into orbit Friday as hundreds of thousands of visitors began to converge on the coast for prime viewing spots.

The launch team began loading more than a half-million gallons of fuel into Endeavour at dawn, moments after Prince William and Kate Middleton exchanged wedding vows across the ocean in London. Three hours later, the tank was full and NASA was keeping a close watch on a nearby storm.

Weather threatens to delay shuttle launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Everything is on track for Friday's launch of the space shuttle Endeavour, with President Barack Obama, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, and as many as 700,000 onlookers along the Space Coast on hand to cheer its final mission.

But the weather could disappoint everyone.

Shuttle weather officer Kathy Winters said Thursday that the prospects of crosswinds and cloud cover Friday afternoon have increased the probability of a weather-delayed launch to 30 percent, up from the 20 percent prediction NASA has been holding much of the week.

NASA delays next space shuttle launch by 1 1/2 weeks

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- NASA is delaying its next space shuttle flight -- the last voyage of Endeavour with Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' astronaut husband in charge.

The flight was postponed because the original April 19 date conflicts with Russia's plans to send a cargo ship to the International Space Station.

Scott Kelly landed in Kazakhstan on March 16 with his Russian crewmates in the Soyuz TMA-01M spacecraft after 159 days in space, 157 days on the International Space Station. Mark Kelly is in the final weeks of training as Commander of the final flight of Endeavour, STS-134, that will spend more than a week docked to the ISS. Endeavour is targeted for launch on April 19, 2011.

Astronaut twins reunited after 5 months apart

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Astronaut Scott Kelly is back home reunited with his twin astronaut brother, after a five-month space station mission that was marred by the shooting of his congresswoman sister-in-law.

Kelly hurried back to Houston on Thursday, just a day after landing in Kazakhstan aboard a Russian capsule. He was immediately reunited with identical twin Mark, who's married to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Giffords is recuperating in Houston from a gunshot wound to the head. She was shot Jan. 8 while meeting with constituents in Tucson, Ariz. The tragedy occurred three months into Scott Kelly's stay at the International Space Station.

Space shuttle Discovery's workers brace for its last launch

Thousands of sightseers are flocking to Florida's Cape Canaveral this month, eager for the lightning-bright, thunderously loud final launch of the space shuttle Discovery.

But to technicians and managers who work on Discovery, and to astronauts who have flown it, the spacecraft's last launch is more than a historic milestone.

Weather looking good for Thursday shuttle launch try

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- After a four-month grounding of the space shuttle fleet, NASA's countdown clocks were on the verge of ticking again Monday for Discovery's final ride into orbit.
