Authorities suspend Susan Powell search of shallow 'grave'

DELTA -- The excavation of what authorities have been calling a shallow grave in the central Utah desert stopped Friday afternoon as rain and wind combined with limited resources to hamper efforts to examine piles of dirt for human remains.

Authorities keep digging shallow 'grave' in Susan Powell search

DELTA -- Authorities on Friday resumed their examination of what they called a shallow grave in the central Utah desert in their investigation into a missing mother after a day of digging provided no clues, no remains and no progress.

No remains found in Susan Powell search

DELTA — A search in the Utah desert for a missing mother took a strange turn Thursday when the site that authorities said contained human remains turned up no body parts.

Cadaver dogs discovered the location this week amid a renewed search for Susan Powell, and investigators declared that they had found human remains.

But authorities now say that after digging into the site, they have found no remains. Police did not say why they earlier stated that they had found human remains when they had not even seen any.

DELTA -- A federal anthropologist was headed to Utah's central desert Thursday to examine remains found by authorities during a search for clues in the disappearance of a missing mother.

DELTA — Authorities found human remains Wednesday while searching Utah’s rugged desert, reviving hopes for a major break in the case of a mother who disappeared nearly two years ago.
