Actor Michael Clarke Duncan dies at 54

LOS ANGELES — Michael Clarke Duncan, the hulking, prolific character actor whose dozens of films included an Oscar-nominated performance as a death row inmate in “The Green Mile” and such other box office hits as “Armageddon,” “Planet of the Apes” and “Kung Fu Panda,” is dead at age 54.

Duncan died Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was being treated for a heart attack, said his fiancee, reality TV personality Rev. Omarosa Manigault, in a statement released by publicist Joy Fehily.

The muscular, 6-foot-4 Duncan, a former bodyguard who turned to acting in his 30s, “suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered,” the statement said. “Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”

More body parts found near Hollywood sign

LOS ANGELES -- As the sun set over the Hollywood Hills park where police spent Wednesday searching for human body parts, they still didn't have a name to go with the man's head discovered there a day earlier.

What they did have were two hands and two feet. Authorities were optimistic that the hands were in good enough condition to obtain fingerprints.

Pedophile cases in Hollywood attracting attention

LOS ANGELES -- In his private journal, Jason Michael Handy once described himself as a "pedophile, full blown."

Handy snapped more than 1,000 photos of girls at the elementary school across the street from his house, using a camera with a telephoto lens, according to court documents. He volunteered at a Malibu church, where he worked with 6-year-olds. And his job as a production assistant at one of the nation's most prominent producers of children's television programs, Nickelodeon, gave him access to child actors on and off the set, and allowed him to exchange email addresses and phone numbers with them.

John Wayne's personal items are up for auction

LOS ANGELES -- Ethan Wayne, the youngest son of Hollywood legend John Wayne, hates to have anything in his pockets because as a young boy he couldn't go out of the house with his dad without a stack of business cards that read, "Good Luck, John Wayne" on one side and the Duke's name typed on the other side stuffed in his pockets.

"He would always take care of the fans no matter how busy he got," said Wayne, 49, who is named after his father's character in John Ford's influential 1956 Western "The Searchers."

Kate and William go Hollywood

LOS ANGELES -- They've been roundly cheered but occasionally jeered on their first foreign trip since they were married. But will Britain's Prince William and the former Kate Middleton now be revered when they arrive in Tinseltown?

There may not be time.

Following a nine-day visit to Canada, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are flying south Friday to spend a tightly scripted weekend in Los Angeles that is more business than pleasure and will leave little opportunity for the city's commoners to either jeer or revere.
