Romney says Obama doesn't understand how to create jobs

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney claimed Friday that President Barack Obama has failed to fulfill his promises in part because he does not understand what it takes to ignite a more robust economic recovery.

Deli owner sports 'Government didn't build my business' T-shirt while catering Obama event

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Ross Murty likes business, but he doesn’t like President Barack Obama.

And so the co-owner of the Village Corner Deli here agreed to cater Obama’s visit Wednesday - but not before donning a T-shirt blaring the message: "Government didn’t build my business. I did."

Obama drinks beers with voters; Romney scoops ice cream

DUBUQUE, Iowa - When Michelle Obama asked her husband on Wednesday if he’d eaten a fried Twinkie at the Iowa State Fair, President Obama leaned into the microphone to boast: "Pork chop and beer."

"He’s so pleased with himself," the first lady shot back, rolling her eyes to the crowd.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Newly tapped Republican vice presidential contender Paul Ryan is facing off against President Barack Obama as the front lines in the battle for the White House shift to Iowa.

Romney attacking Obama on all fronts, not just economy

 

DES MOINES, Iowa — For months, Mitt Romney has had one main focus — bludgeoning President Barack Obama on the economy.

 

Now, the Republican presidential candidate has started poking at Obama from all sides as he looks to gain ground. In recent days, Romney has criticized Obama in TV ads and speeches on topics that include farm policy, transparency, military voting rights, welfare reform and religious freedom.

Father of 1 of 2 missing girls put under supervision

EVANSDALE, Iowa — Authorities in Iowa have taken steps to keep a closer watch on the father of one of two missing cousins, a man with a lengthy criminal history who stopped cooperating with police in the week-old investigation, court records showed Friday.
