Mild winter to bring early mosquitoes

KAYSVILLE -- This year's mild winter could have mosquitoes putting the bite on Top of Utah residents a few weeks earlier than usual.

FEMA briefing set for Davis relief $$$

KAYSVILLE -- A federal briefing for Davis entities that experienced heavy property damage in the Dec. 1 windstorm will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kaysville City Hall, 23 E. Center St.

Arden Lee (Whitey) Sandall, 88, died after a short illness Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at the Davis Hospital and Medical Center. Boys basketball: Warriors take care of Darts

KAYSVILLE -- This time the numbers don't lie.

Weber dominated all key statistical categories and rode a strong second half to sweep the season series against Davis with a 56-42 dusting of the Darts on Tuesday evening.

At the risk of brain warp, some of the mind-numbing numbers include a 36-23 rebounding advantage and 23-of-26 from the free throw line for the Warriors. Weber held Davis to 29.4 percent from the floor and 0-of-10 from the 3-point line in the second half while shooting 69.2 percent in the second stanza from the field to finish at 50 percent for the game.

'Angry Birds' game breaks up daily grind at Davis High

KAYSVILLE -- Stuffed animals hurtled through the air Wednesday afternoon as Davis High School students put their science and engineering skills to the test.

In a full-size mock-up of the popular "Angry Birds" video game, student leaders in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program showed their peers the joy that can come from science.

"We were looking for a way to get our cause out," said STEM student leader Daniel Page, 17. "We wanted to show some real-life experience."

Avelina (Evelyn) Mary Muniz, of St. George, died after a fight with cancer on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. A celebration of her life will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, followed by a reception at True Vine Baptist Church, 197 W. 100 South, in Kaysville, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emeritus Skilled Nursing Facility, 76 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84102 and/or the Arthritis Foundation.
