SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah's lone ferry boat will close for repairs after receiving a $300,000 federal grant.
The ferry boat that operates between Bullfrog and Hall's Crossing marinas on Lake Powell will close from the end of December until April. The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the Utah Transportation Commission approved the closure and the repair work on Thursday.
The federal grant will pay for maintenance on the boat engines and hull and rehabilitation of its docks.
The ferry charges $25 for vehicles under 20 feet in length, but could save hundreds of miles of driving for travelers in southern Utah and northern Arizona.
