UHSAA stands by decision regarding East, Timpview football playoffs

MIDVALE — The Utah High School Activities Association is standing by its decisions regarding Timpview and East high schools and the upcoming state playoffs.

Following an open meeting on Monday at UHSAA offices, in which interested schools and individuals expressed their concerns regarding the recent eligibility decisions at Timpview and East, the Board of Trustees panel declined to amend Friday’s unanimous decisions.

MIDVALE -- A single icy on-ramp near Midvale is being blamed for 15 crashed cars in four separate accidents.

Will UHSAA add sixth football classification?

MIDVALE -- The future of Utah high schools sports will be up for debate this week as the Utah High School Activities Association considers adding a sixth classification for football beginning with the 2013 school year.

With an eye toward leveling the playing numbers among football teams, the UHSAA's Board of Trustees will consider an executive committee proposal to align the state's football teams into six divisions starting in 2013.
