Utah unmasks film incentives; industry to boost economy

SALT LAKE CITY — The Governor’s Office of Economic Development has approved incentives for eight more films that plan to shoot in Utah.

That’s the largest number of films approved at once, although only one of the movies is a big-budget film poised to be a blockbuster.

MOAB — Authorities are releasing the name of an 18-year-old snowmobiler who was buried in an avalanche in southeastern Utah.

Marc Baker died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011. A celebration of his life will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Alpine Church in Riverdale. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Marc’s honor to the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society online at www.lls.org or mailed to P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202. Death of Moab skydiver probable suicide

MOAB -- The death of a champion skydiver whose body was found beneath a cliff outside Moab has been ruled a probable suicide.

Leslie Jo Moon, born Jan. 4, 1939, in Moab, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Salt Lake Stake Center, 142 W. 200 North, where the family will greet friends and family from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. before the service. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 North, North Ogden. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary. Missing skydiver's body found near Moab

MOAB -- The family of a renowned 37-year-old Canadian skydiver missing since late June says his body has been found in southern Utah.

Hook and Ladder -- an ATV adventure in Moab

With all of the Moab OHV trails the Northern Utah ATV Trail Riders could have picked to ride, I was comfortable with the Hook and Ladder Trail. It did not sound life threatening like the other choices -- Hell's Revenge, Metal Masher, or Steel Bender.

Traveling south of Moab on Highway 191 past Wilson Arch, we turned east on State Road 179 where we unloaded and started our ride. Traveling north, we soon found ourselves climbing rock benches through scrub juniper. Sandy trails dotted with patches of slick rock took us around sandstone hoodoos and over landscape for which Moab is famous.

MOAB -- Family members are canvassing Moab's main strip and paragliders plan to scan the foothills of the southeastern Utah town for any sign of a skydiving instructor missing more than a week.

MOAB, Utah -- Authorities say a Moab man has been missing for six days.

Family and friends describe Dave Brown as a well-liked extreme athlete and sky diving instructor. ABC TV 4 reports he was last seen last Wednesday afternoon around the Skydive Moab facility where he worked.
