Top of Utah women made preventive double mastectomy decision before Jolie

Nicole Batty, 33, of Ogden decided to undergo a double mastectomy in 2011 after testing positive for the BRCA2 cancer gene. “I am thankful for research companies like Myriad (that) give me a chance to change my future. You don’t have to be a celebrity, rich or have health insurance to obtain genetic counseling. Myriad has a financial assistance program for appropriate patients, and they have provided thousands of free tests to low-income and uninsured patients,” she says.
