Three arrested in Pineview boating death

OGDEN — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three people in connection with the Aug. 21, 2011, death of Pineview Reservoir swimmer Esther Fujimoto.

Colton Raines, Skyler Shepherd and Robert Cole Boyer were arrested Friday.

Fujimoto died after being struck by a boat while swimming in the reservoir.

OGDEN -- Handling three major cases at the same time is having an impact on the Weber County Attorney's Office. "We're maxed out," Weber County Attorney Dee Smith said of the drain of three major investigations under way simultaneously.

Wrongful death suit filed in Pineview boating death

OGDEN — The sister of the woman who died after being struck by a boat while swimming in Pineview Reservoir in August has filed a wrongful death suit against the three men she believes are responsible.

Esther Fujimoto, 49, died the evening of Aug. 21 after a boat propeller cut into her torso and abdomen while she was swimming in the reservoir.

Three men — one driver and two passengers — were in the boat, which sped off and left Fujimoto to die, according to the lawsuit.

Police identify boaters in Pineview fatality

OGDEN — Search warrant affidavits in 2nd District Court name the three men in the boat that police say killed a Pineview Reservoir swimmer. The affidavits also state which man was driving.

University of Utah researcher Esther Fujimoto, 49, died Aug. 21 when she was hit by a powerboat in the Spring Creek area of the reservoir.

Weber sheriff’s deputies have seized the boat believed to have struck the woman. The recently unsealed affidavits have identified its owner as Skyler Shepherd, 21, of South Ogden. In the boat with him were Colton Raines, 22, and Cole Boyer, 29, both of Ogden, the affidavits state.

Weber County authorities say 49-year-old Esther Fujimoto of Ogden died after she was struck around 8 p.m. Sunday while swimming in the reservoir.

Deputies say a bystander heard her screaming and came to her aid in a row boat.

HUNTSVILLE  — Weber County authorities are looking for a boat that fatally hit a swimmer in the waters of Pineview Reservoir over the weekend.

Weber County Sheriff's Department said Esther Fujuimoto, 49, of Ogden, died after she was struck shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday in the Spring Creek Cove area of the reservoir.

Deputies say a bystander heard the woman screaming and came to her aid in a row boat.

Man injured while kneeboarding in Pineview Reservoir

PINEVIEW RESERVOIR -- A 28-year-old man went to the hospital after wiping out while kneeboarding Sunday afternoon.

People in the boat that was pulling the kneeboarder on Pineview Reservoir managed to pull him in after he was knocked out, Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Lane Findlay said.
