Flooding forces I-15 closure in Box Elder County

PLYMOUTH -- Flooding has forced the closure Saturday afternoon of the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Plymouth in Box Elder County.

The closure began about 12:45 p.m. and crews are on the scene attempting to clear water from the roadway, said officials with the Box Elder County Dispatch Center. Traffic is being rerouted along State Road 13. Union Pacific Railroad has also halted train traffic because of water across tracks in the Riverside area.

Accident in Box Elder County. Time: 1910. I-15 Milepost 391. Vehicle #1 was traveling northbound on I-15 near milepost 391 in the number two lane. The passenger rear tire tread came off and this cause the driver of vehicle #1 to lose control. Vehicle #1 crossed the number one lane and went into the median. Vehicle #1 rolled in the median and its final rest was facing west on it's top in the median. The cab on the driver side of the vehicle was crushed which caused the fatal injuries to the driver.
