Dispatcher in Powell murder-suicide reprimanded

A news report says a Washington state dispatcher who took a 911 call from a social worker just before Josh Powell killed his children and himself has been reprimanded.

Josh Powell's family backs off cemetery decision

 

 SEATTLE — The man who killed his two sons in an explosive house fire in Washington state will not be buried in the same cemetery as the children, his family said Thursday.

PUYALLUP, Wash — Josh Powell’s surviving relatives want him buried at the same cemetery as the two young sons he killed, the city manager in Puyallup said Wednesday.

PUYALLAP, Wash. -- The sister of a man who set his house on fire, killing himself and his two sons, knew something horrible had happened when she received emails from her brother explaining what to do with his property and saying he couldn't live without his sons.

Search for Susan Powell suddenly escalates

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- The nearly two-year search for a Utah mother is suddenly escalating on different fronts, with detectives scouring through her husband's Puyallup, Wash., home while family members exchange sordid accusations of sex and deceit.

Investigators said Josh Powell has recently stopped returning phone calls from authorities seeking his aid in finding Susan Cox Powell, though he appeared calm when they arrived at his two-story home in the suburbs Thursday afternoon. Detectives spent several hours combing through the house and vehicles, using disposable gloves in a search for evidence they said could propel the case forward.

Investigators search Wash. home of Josh Powell

PUYALLUP, Wash.  — Two years after a Utah mother vanished, her case has spiraled into a salacious saga of finger-pointing and accusations of sex and lies between two sparring families.

The bitter back-and-forth comes as investigators have increased their activity, executing a search warrant Thursday at the Puyallup home Susan Cox Powell’s husband shares with his father, removing several computers, boxes and brown bags sealed with yellow tape.

A few investigators thoroughly examined a van in the driveway, looking through every CD, flipping through scraps of paper and looking under seats. The search comes just days after authorities combed through abandoned mines in Nevada.
