Central Utah coal mine eliminates 114 jobs

WELLINGTON -- Operators of the Dugout Canyon coal mine near Wellington have announced the elimination of 114 jobs amid weakened demand for coal in the region.

Heritage center gets cute

WELLSVILLE -- The cuteness factor will be in overdrive when Baby Animal Days begins Thursday at the American West Heritage Center with piglets, chicks, bunnies and calves.

The annual springtime event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and April 8 and 9 at the center, 4025 S. U.S. 89-91.

Returning this year will be baby bears from Yellowstone Bear World, a drive-through wildlife park located near Rexburg, Idaho.

Valentine's festivities

Sweethearts, families can dance night away

LAYTON -- Celebrate the season of love with a night of family fun at Layton City's 10th annual Valentine's Dance.

There will be live music by the local band Mid-Life Crisis, prizes and a sweetheart photo booth from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Central Davis Junior High gymnasium, 663 N. Church St.
